HOW TO SET UP Mail & package Shipping Option

PACKAGE SHIPPING

This is how it works.
Administrator:

-         adds list of locations that will be used as origin/destinations;
menu "Products" > submenu "Add Location"

-         adds list of pick-up locations for those main locations;
menu "Products" > submenu "Add pick-up location"

-         adds shipping costs as products with special parameters.
menu "Products" > submenu "Add Product"

Customer:

-         clicks on "ship with us" link;
item "ship with us" in the left menu

-         must select: origin, destination, pick-up / drop-off locations, pick-up date/time, drop-off date/time, package dimensions and weight;

-         after clicking on "Calculate cost" button system shows list of available shipping methods and costs;

-         customer must select one method;

-         system adds all information about shipping in the shopping cart;

-         customer fills registration form and submits order;

-         customer receives mail with order confirmation;
copy of this mail will be also sent to website owner.

Administrator:

-         scans the package before placing on the bus;
menu "Orders" > submenu "Package Shipping - Bar Code Validation"

-         as a result, order receives "Scanned" status.

-         when package arrives to the destination, then administrator scans order again - and order receives "Shipped" status.

Please note, that regular shipping should be disabled when using this option.

1.    Back-end. Changing list of locations.

Locations will be used as "Origin" and "Destination" points when customer selects shipping details.
Administrator have the ability to add/modify/delete available locations.

1.1.        Adding new location:
menu "Products" > submenu "Add Location".

Please fill the following form:


"List Order" value will be used to sort locations (location with "List Order"=1 will be shown first).

1.2.        Viewing/removing/modifying existing locations.

menu "Products" > submenu "Locations List"

To modify location name/code/list order - click on it's name.
As a result, you'll see the form to change location details.

To delete location - click on it's name and on the opened page press "Delete" button. Please note: if location have associated pick-up locations then those locations will be automatically deleted too.

2.    Back-end. Changing list of pick-up locations.

Pick-up locations are the addresses in the given city (main location), where customer will be able to ship package.

2.1. Adding new pick-up location.
menu "Products" > submenu "Add pick-up location"

 2.2. Viewing/removing/modifying existing pick-up locations.
menu "Products" > submenu "List of pick-up locations"

To modify pick-up location name/list order - click on it's name.
As a result, you'll see the form to change pick-up location details.

To delete pick-up location - click on it's name and on the opened page press "Delete" button.

3.    Back-end. Adding package shipping costs as products.

To add shipping costs administrator must add products (Products > Add product) section. Each product will represent one particular price for the given combination of "Start location/End location" and package details (weight from-to, dimensions from-to).

When customer on the front-end entered package details - system selects appropriate product according the the package details and origin/destination.
This product will represent shipping costs.

3.1.        Adding new product (shipping costs).

menu "Products" > submenu "Add Product"

Click on "Use this product to define shipping costs" checkbox and fill all necessary fields. You can use weight, dimensions or  both weight + dimensions together as a criteria to define shipping cost.

For example, if administrator only entered weight(from-to) then on the front-end system will use only package weight to select appropriate shipping cost.

 

Then you'll need to enter shipping method name as product name, select category and specify price for shipping by clicking on the link near "Retail Price".

Please select "Package Shipping" as a category for those products.

4.    Front-end. Ship with us.

To start package shipping customer clicks on "Ship with us" link:

 

 

On the opened page customer must select all shipping details:

 

After clicking on "Calculate cost" system shows list of available shipping methods/costs for the given package:

 

Customer must click on "Proceed"-  then shopping cart page will be opened:

 



User must fill registration form and submit order by clicking on "Order" button.

As a result, system will create order, send confirmation mail to customer and website owner and show confirmation page with ability to print.

5.    Back-end. Bar code validation.

Administrator will scan order two times:

-         when package arrived at bus location and then placed on the bus;
order will receive "scanned" status in this case;

-         when package was delivered to destination ;
order will receive "shipped" status.


To validate/scan bar code administrator must open:
menu "Orders" > submenu "Package Shipping - Bar Code Validation"

or

menu "Orders" > submenu "Package Shipping - Bar Code Validation (PocketPC friendly version)"
 page (for mobile devices).

This page contains one text field where bar code should be entered:

 

After clicking on "Submit" button system will start bar code validation.
Then you'll see appropriate message - if bar code is valid or not.

6.    Back-end. Viewing report.

It is possible to see information about package shipping orders on this page:
menu "Orders" > submenu "Package Shipping - Report".
